Book Walk

The Bookwalk is a fashion show for books, designed to pique the interest of 3rd grade children. Guild members don sandwich boards and costume accessories while a brief description of each book is shared. The Bookwalk program is typically held in January.

Dial-A-Story

Using Dial-a-story, children can dial 774-6439 and hear a story over the telephone. The stories are recorded by Guild members and are refreshed every other week.

Pass the Book

Pass the Book is a program that collects, sorts and distributes books to organizations that encourage and support early literacy. Our volunteers recycled over 2900 books this past year to 19 agencies and programs throughout the rogue valley. Donations of gently used children’s books are being accepted. Please phone……for further information.

Winter program

In January, the Storytelling Guild proudly sponsored “The Reluctant Dragon”, a large-scale puppet show featured at the Craterian Theater. The program was free and donations of books were accepted. More than 600 parents and children enjoyed a story brought to life by dragons. The Guild collected over 500 books which will be distributed through Pass The Book. Check back for updates and Winter Program 2008.

Scholarship

This year The Storytelling Guild proudly sponsored a local scholarship for fall 2007 term to Whitney Edge. Whitney is currently studying Early Childhood Development at Rogue Community College and is scheduled to graduate in Spring of 2008. She has a strong commitment to early literacy and has career aspirations of directing a child development center of her own one day. Congratulations and GOOD LUCK, Whitney!!!!
